UK Awards


The Yellow Woods Challenge UK Awards 2008 will celebrate and reward the achievements of top performing schools and recycling officers from across the UK.

Prizes for schools

Recycling Champions - automatic entry
£1,000 is available for three schools (small, medium and large) that recycle the most directories per pupil. Entry for these awards is still automatic.

Most Improved School in the UK - automatic entry


UK Merit Awards - application required
The following categories and cash prizes of £1,000 will be awarded:

  • Most Promising Newcomer
  • Community Involvement
  • Education in Action
  • Creative Approach

£500 will be awarded to the runner-up in each category.

Big Yellow Pages Art Competition - application required
To be in with a chance of winning, your schools must complete a simple application form which can be found on the website. Schools will also receive a hard copy of the form in their Teacher's Toolkit. Schools may enter several awards but can only win one national prize.


Prizes for recycling organisers

UK Recycling Organisers Awards
One recycling organiser in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be honoured nationally with a special certificate and prize for organising outstanding Challenges.

Judges will be looking for your outstanding achievement in:
  • percentage of schools participating
  • directories collected
  • adherence to the Challenge timetable
  • publicity efforts
