Health and Safety

The following health and safety advice should be made clear to ALL pupils...

Children should only collect old Yellow Pages directories from home and from people they know, with the consent of a parent/guardian. Children must not be allowed to collect directories from households where they do not know the owner.

Children should only carry one Yellow Pages directory at a time. Smaller children and those under the age of seven should be assisted by an adult. The directory should not be added to the pupil’s school shoulder bag, but carried separately.

To help communicate important Health and Safety information about the Yellow Woods Challenge to parents and guardians, you can photocopy the templated ‘Letter home’ found on the reverse of the Teacher's notes leaflet in your toolkit, or download here (loads doc file (403KB) in a new browser window).

Safe storage at school

Your local authority recycling officer should provide details of the directory weight and the storage/collection details required locally.
