  1. Print off and use this handy checklist


  2. Sign up to the Challenge with your local authority recycling officer


  3. Select a member of staff as the chief competition co-ordinator


  4. Make sure you receive and read the Teacher’s notes – contained in the Teacher’s Toolkit, sent by your recycling officer and available online (loads pdf file (278KB) in a new browser window)


  5. Tell children how to collect OLD Yellow Pages directories safely and when to bring them to school


  6. Complete and photocopy the 'Letter home' – on the back of the Teacher's Notes and available online (loads doc (22.5K) file in a new browser window)


  7. Display the posters from the Teacher’s Toolkit around the school/classroom/staffroom and local community


  8. Have a go at the Big Yellow Pages Art Competition


  9. Use the teaching activities to link the competition into the curriculum


  10. Give pupils a Kirk sticker for bringing in their old Yellow Pages directory


  11. Enter the UK Awards 2008 for a chance to win £1,000
