Seeds to trees

This year, Yellow Pages is awarding a Seeds to trees pack to the top six recycling schools in each participating Yellow Woods Challenge area.

The packs contain instructions and everything required to grow native Silver Birch trees from seed and supports the Woodland Trust’s Tree For All campaign – giving children the chance to plant trees.

We hope children will enjoy sowing, growing and learning about native trees in the classroom and then planting them out in the school grounds.

When to expect the packs

To improve the chances of successful germination, the seeds need to be planted in the spring.

If your school is eligible for a pack as a Yellow Woods Challenge 2008 prize, you will receive it as follows:

Spring 2008
- Schools whose results were received by 1 February 2008 will receive their pack in the post in March 08.

Spring 2009
- Schools whose results were received after 1 February 2008 will receive their pack in Spring 09.

Step-by-step guide

A planting guide will be provided in the Seeds to trees packs to help plant and care for the seeds.

Please email any photographs or stories of your class sowing seeds and caring for plants to kirk@yellgroup.com
