The aim of the Yellow Woods Challenge is to recycle as many old Yellow Pages directories as possible, from your local area. The main rules of the competition are therefore very simple.
Children should only recycle:
- old local Yellow Pages directories – new ones will not count towards your school’s total
- old local Yellow Pages directories – transporting them from elsewhere isn’t good for the environment
- old local Yellow Pages directories – other types of directory will not count.
Schools win prizes for collecting the highest number of old Yellow Pages directories per pupil. View or download a full set of rules for the Yellow Woods Challenge 2009 .
You can also view or download a copy of the rules for the Big Yellow Pages Art Competition 2009.
Health & Safety
Schools taking part in the Yellow Woods Challenge 2009 will receive specific Health & Safety guidance from the recycling officer organising your local Challenge.
In addition to the local instructions, please make sure all children understand that they must only collect old directories (or their covers) from people they know and with their parent’s or carer’s permission.
