BIG Yellow Pages Art Competition 2008 - online voting terms and conditions

1. The Big Yellow Pages Art Competition 2008 (‘the competition’) is an optional element of the Yellow Woods Challenge (‘YWC’) run and promoted by Yell Limited, Queens Walk, Oxford Road, Reading, Berkshire, England, RG1 7PT. Registered in England with number 4205228.

2. The Competition was open to all schools that participated in the YWC08 and to schools in local authority areas that previously participated in the YWC, but have since stopped running the YWC to concentrate on kerbside recycling initiatives. The competition closed for entries on 3 October 2008.

4. Schools were entitled to enter more than one artwork, as long as each submission was accompanied by a completed application form and photograph.
5. The first round of judging took place on 6 November by a YWC panel including Yell, its creative agencies and the Woodland Trust. Each entry was judged on its own merits and the judges looked for adherence to health and safety guidance (found in the ‘Teacher’s Toolkit’ and on www.yellow-woods.co.uk) as well as recyclability, creativity, originality and WOW factor. They shortlisted 12 entries.

6. The second round of judging was completed by Five TV’s children’s presenter Naomi Wilkinson, who chose her six favourite entries to go through to the online vote on www.yellow-woods.co.uk. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

7. Finalists have been notified and their entries posted on the YWC website for an online public vote during November/December 2008. Voting will open at 09.00 on 24 November 2008 and close at 17:00 on 5 December 2008. Finalists are publicised by Yell, its agents and the Woodland Trust and schools may engage in their own publicity to generate votes for their artwork.

8. During the period of online voting, a person may vote only once per day, per artwork, up to the maximum of 6 different artworks. Multiple votes from one ISP address for one artwork will be discounted.

9. At the end of the voting period, the total number of eligible votes per artwork will be counted up. The entry with the most votes will win first prize and a cheque of £1,000 for the school. Two runners-up, according to the number of votes received, will receive £750 and £500 respectively. In the event of a tie in the number of votes, the YWC judges will be asked to decide first, second or third places. All competition entrants will receive a YWC certificate.

10. Finalists and winners shall participate in publicity organised by Yell, its agents and the Woodland Trust.

11. The Woodland Trust will receive a total of £2,250 from Yell as match funding for the prizes awarded to the three winning schools. The money will be used towards the Trust’s ‘Tree For All’ campaign.

12. Data about schools and individuals held by Yell, its agents directly involved in the YWC, or the Woodland Trust will be used for issuing materials, monitoring results and to identify schools for possible educational research and public relations activity. All partners undertake that they have obtained where necessary, and will maintain, where necessary, in full force and effect all registrations under the Data Protection Act l998 ('the DPA') necessary to enable it to provide the services and will comply with all applicable provisions of the DPA.
