Welcome to the Yellow Woods Challenge – the simple, educational and fun environmental campaign for schools run by Yellow Pages, working with the Woodland Trust and local authorities across the UK.

The Challenge is:

The Challenge and campaign mascot, Kirk, aim to get children into the recycling habit by taking family and friends’ old Yellow Pages directories to school for recycling.

Schools taking on the Yellow Woods Challenge receive free curriculum-linked teaching activities and materials to help bring recycling and conservation to life in the classroom. Children can explore the Kids’ Kabin and learn via environmental games and activities.

Schools enjoy competing against each other to win cash prizes and native tree saplings.

Around £85,000 will be awarded to schools in the Yellow Woods Challenge 2008 with a total prize fund of £700 in each local competition and top prizes of up to £1,000 in the UK Awards.

For every pound Yellow Pages awards to schools, a matching pound is given to the Woodland Trust to support its ‘Tree For All’ campaign.
