Hints & tips

  1. Check that your local authority is among the councils participating in the Yellow Woods Challenge. (Loads 'Yellow Woods Challenge 2008 Areas' file (101K) in a new browser window.)

  2. Read the rules of the Challenge for full details of the competition and health and safety advice

  3. Ask your child’s school for details of collection dates

  4. Ask family and friends to give you their OLD Yellow Pages to take to your child’s school

  5. Only allow your child to collect directories from people you both know and only go collecting with your permission

  6. Set up a collection at work – clear out old directories from the office and ask colleagues to bring in their old Yellow Pages from home

  7. If you are a member of a club, community or religious group, ask them to collect directories on behalf of your child’s school

  8. Help your child take the directories safely to school

  9. Encourage your child to have fun learning about the environment in the Kids’ Kabin

  10. Visit a Woodland Trust woodland with your child and help to bring the Yellow Woods Challenge to life outside the classroom. Please visit the Woodland Trust website for more details.
